Man Planned Sex Meeting with 'Girl,' 13: Cops

Anthony Tully reportedly met the girl -- actually a Will County sheriff's investigator -- via a Craigslist ad and corresponded with her via a library computer, police said.

A Joliet man who met a "13-year-old" girl via Craigslist and arranged to pick her up at a Crest Hill McDonald's was greeted by Will County sheriff's deputies instead, sheriff's spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said Monday.

Anthony M. Tully, 24, of 3322 Wexford Lane, was arrested Friday on felony charges of indecent solicitation of a minor, sexual exploitation of a child, traveling to meet a minor and grooming.

A sheriff's department investigator posted the Craigslist ad, which was answered by Tully on Dec. 22, Hoffmeyer said. The two exchanged sexually explicit notes -- including one in which Tully sent the "girl" a photo of his penis -- and arranged to meet on Friday, which is when he was taken into custody, she said.

Tully was found to have condoms in his pocket at the time of his arrest, Hoffmeyer said.

Tully admitted the online correspondence, and told investigators that he sent the notes via a Joliet Public Library computer, she said.

Bond was set at $100,000. Tully is being held in the Will County jail.

Its good that they caught a potential pedo, but don't they have other things to do than try to bait people on the internet? How do you charge a person with soliciting a minor and sexual exploitation of a child when no minor or child was involved??? How dumb is this guy for even thinking it was a legit add, and for actually trying to meet a minor over the internet? I appreciate the pervert removal, but the fact that they are spending tax dollars sitting around baiting pedophiles is not the best interest of the tax payers...

Completely agree with pro streeter.
I would also like to add, that... The tactics used to bait potential pedo's, rarely look at weather or not these individuals are mentally slow/retarded in some degree. The officers that work on such potential crimes, know how to manipulate, and psychologically real/bait people with these tendencies in. I feel pedo's need to be locked up, so kids can stay safe, I also believe that those with a mental age of a teenager (mental retardation) need proper help, and explanation of what is expected behavoir of theier PHYSICAL AGE.
Sometimes these cases are not so cut and dry, and many things may be ignored, overlooked, when the safety of children are involved.
I hope and pray that each potential pedo case is properly investigated, and those that prey on children be locked up for life. As preying on children, is one of the most vile/horrifying things in life today !
