The village's lowest gas price Monday morning was $3.99 at Speedway, 701 N. Independence; and Shell, 1285 Lakeview Drive.

Plainfield

Plainfield's gas was slightly cheaper, with the the lowest price of $3.95 per gallon spotted at Mobil, 14808 S. Route 59; Meijer, 13705 S. Route 59; and BP, 13500 S. Route 589.

Lockport

Lockport was your best best for cheap gas on Labor Day, with a gallon of regular selling for $3.75 at both Speedway stations, 314 S. State St. and 1004 E. 9th St.

The average gas price in Chicago was up 6 cents at $4.05 per gallon, while the Illinois average was $3.90. The national average is $3.65 per gallon, according to chicagogasprices.com.
