Forest Preserve Hosts Dog Park Permit Day

You don't have to travel to a district facility to get a permit for your pooch; bring Fido along to any of the three Will County dog parks and pick one up for $15 on Saturday.

You can treat your pooch to a day at the park and score a dog park pass, courtesy of the Forest Preserve District of Will County.

Forest preserve staff will be out in force Saturday at the district’s three dog parks, selling half-year permits for $15 per dog to Will County pet owners and $30 for out-of-county residents. The permits, which are required in order for four-legged friends to enjoy the parks, are good through the end of 2011. Up to three dogs may be included on one permit.

Discounted rates of $10 per dog for Will County residents and $20 for non-residents are available to seniors age 65 and older.

Weather permitting, forest preserve employees will be at dog parks at the following times to issue permits on Saturday, July 9:

  • 9 to 11 a.m.: Whalon Lake Dog Park, 1480 Royce Road, Naperville
  • Noon to 2 p.m.: Hammel Woods Dog Park, located on Black Road east of Route 59 in Shorewood
  • 3 to 5 p.m.: Messenger Marsh Dog Park, located on South Bell Road south of 159th Street in Homer Township

Permit applications will be available on site, or can be downloaded from the forest preserve district website by clicking HERE. Pet owners must provide each dog’s rabies vaccination tag number and the full date of the dog’s next scheduled vaccination. A vehicle license plate number is also required.

Dog park permits are also available at any Forest Preserve District of Will County facility. Click HERE for a complete list of facilities.

MUG SHOTS, MUG SHOTS, MUG SHOTS. Brian will you never learn. Today you put up a mug shot of a "fine gentlemen" accused of stealing a motor cycle and now, you put up this mug shot of an innocent looking dog, who may or may not have a permit to roam in the forest preserve dog park. Why subject this poor dog to public humiliation. What if this fine animal has a permit? Can't be sure from reading the article. Your just going to get Rhonda upset again. Stop that.

Hey Jaskie1505, no need to stalk me with the MUG SHOT comments. I've already stated a thousand times that I don't want to see the mug shots prominently displayed on the front page every other day. Just my opinion.

Brian Feldt, and the Bolingbrook Patch is a great news source. I've spoken to Brian and feel very comfortable with whichever way he decides to display the photos. Why? Because I took the time to discuss with him my concerns, and understand better what his motivation was.

In fact, I apologize to Brian and the BB Patch for making assumptions about their motivation without discussing it with them first. And thank them for providing an outlet for the community to publish articles.

I have no issues with the mugshots. So move on, stalker.

Back to name calling Rhonda. No one called you any names. Sorry you can't take a simple joke. As the famous saying goes "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen" or something like that". If you want to comment on a public forum be able to handle the rebuttals.

Rhonda R, If you are the Rhonda that complained about the mug shots of the colored boys being shown, why are you using two different names here on The Patch.

Relax Ken. No need to panic. I'm using my full name to publish articles on the site, and first name only to debate with you fine people.

All right, as this story clearly has nothing to do with mug shots, let's please stick to the topic —and, as always, refrain from personal attacks and name-calling, which are a violation of Patch's Terms of Use.
