Trinity Christian School Students stuffed shoeboxes with gifts for children’s overseas and shipped them out Friday.
Students collected 444 shoeboxes – exceeding their goal of collecting 400 shoeboxes. Boxes were filled with small toys, toiletry items, school supplies, socks and other small items and will be sent to children around the globe.
The collection was part of the school’s annual Operation Christmas Child shoebox drive. Operation Christmas Child is run through Samaritan’s Purse. Each year, Samaritan’s Purse collects the shoeboxes and distributes them to needy children around the world. Trinity Christian School students participate in the program each year and collect the shoeboxes at the school’s annual Thanksgiving Feast, which was held Friday.
Students filled shoeboxes at home with the help of their parents. The boxes were brought into the school throughout the week of Nov. 12. After the feast, a group of parents drove the boxes to a local church which was serving as a drop off point for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.
