Marilyn Ann Cutinello nee Podgorski (76 years) passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family on October 16, 2012 after fighting a 10-year battle with COPD.
She was a longtime resident of Romeoville, later moving to Lake Carroll.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald, adoring children-Janice (Ken), Karen, Dominic (Gemma), Donald Jr. (Nancy) and Donna (Spencer), daughter-in-law Patti (Douglas-deceased) very special grandchildren-Luke, Sara, Thomas, Jesse, Benjamin, Matthew, Abigail, Katie, Courtney, Devin, and Dominic Jr., and a great granddaughter-Graysen, Brothers Clifford and Russell Podgorski as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Douglas (2007) and her parents Julius and Theresa.
She will always be remembered for her kind heart, loving spirit and warm smile. She was her children and grandchildren’s biggest fan. She could be seen sporting her team colors and ringing her cowbell at events from school plays to band concerts to sporting events.
Marilyn was a stay-at-home mom who always put her children first. When the children were grown, she worked at the Romeoville Village Hall and Romeoville High School before retiring and heading out to Lake Carroll to start a new adventure with her husband Don.
There, she joined a bowling league, golf league, Senior Center, Quilting Club and more -- but still found time to come in and watch the grandchildren with all their activities, until she became too ill to make the trip. She was planning a journey in to see her grandson’s band performance, but passed away the week before. She was so looking forward to coming back to the “Ville.”
Cremation rites were accorded per her request; a private family gathering was held. Donations may be made in her name to the Hospice of Rock River Valley, 264 IL Rt. 2, Dixion, IL 61021.
